Great Northern beans with pork close-up in a bowl
Dried beans, ham and all the other hearty and delicious flavors will make you and your family happy!
It’s so easy to make – like any good slow cooker recipe – yet so delicious after cooking all day!
Great Northern beans are large navy beans that taste similar to navy beans, but slightly better than navy beans when cooked. But they are certainly not “Northern” or anti-South.
They have a creamy, creamy flavor and pair well with pork, vegetables, and other seasonings. For a good Nordic bean, you can easily substitute white or cannellini beans.
*ingredients:
°Half a cup of brown sugar
°1 onion (chopped)
°1 ½ lbs. smoked ham
°1 pound Great Northern beans
°Salt and pepper to taste
*Directions:
Pour the beans into the bottom of the slow cooker.
Add onions, ham and brown sugar on top.
Covering beans with about 2 inches of water.
Cook over high heat for two hours.
Reduce the heat to low and cook for another 4-5 hours.
Remove the pork knuckle from the slow cooker. Chop the meat and return it to the pot with the beans. Stir and serve with salt and pepper to taste.
Enjoy !
